Abstract: A very short distance from the Sicilian coast lies the blue and enchanting world of the Egadi Islands. The three islands—Favignana, Levanzo, and Marettimo—are surrounded by an unspoiled and magnificent sea that displays every shade and tone of blue and green, along with beaches of powder-fine sand or sheer rocks plunging into the waves.They were admired by the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, and the Romans, and traces of their presence can still be found here and there—not to mention the true jewel of prehistoric archaeology, the extraordinary Grotta del Genovese on Levanzo.
